This position proficiently scans, interprets, and produces quality images which aids the Radiologist in the accurate and timely diagnosis of patients. The position acts as a resource to the nurses in the Community Health Centers and for Qikiqtani General Hospital’s Obstetrical Team by attending weekly antenatal clinic rounds.The position utilizes ultrasound equipment to independently produce and interpret high quality sonographic images as required by the off-site Radiologist to complete accurate diagnosis of patients. The scope of this position provides Ultrasonography on-site and may provide travelling services and impacts the excellence of patient care, treatment and diagnosis provided by the health care team. Exams are carried out in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the Qikiqtani General Hospital, Sonography Canada, and our reporting Radiologist.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through successful completion of an accredited sonography program and current registration with the Sonography Canada along with two (2) years of sonography experience. Continuing Education is required to maintain the Sonography Canada registration and stay current with the ever-changing technology (40 credits of continuing sonography education and/or relevant practice education credits must be completed every three years). The incumbent must also have annual certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
