Powered by passionate people, we bring the right teams with the right skills together – offering both experience and regional expertise so companies can operate their day to day, confidently and successfully.Job DescriptionThe Recreation and Fitness Coordinator performs some or all the following duties:Assess the recreational requirements of the lodges and prepare an effective recreation plan.Promote and implement a variety of leisure and recreational activities such as tournaments, games, sports, social events, and cultural inclusion programs.Supervise and coordinate all recreational operations and ensure that all programs are run smoothly.Ensure that all recreational facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained.Schedule routine maintenance and repairs of recreation equipment and facilities.Create posters and program schedules to keep guests informed about the different activities available.Develop initiatives to increase participation and involvement of guests.Develop and distribute weekly newsletters and brochures to promote a healthy lifestyle.Continuously identify and implement new programs to meet the needs of guests and employees.Coordinate the use of recreation facilities including gyms, swimming pools, curling rinks, where required.Other duties as required.This is a camp based position with a 14 days on and 7 day off rotation.This job is physically demanding, it requires long working hours in remote camps and extreme weather conditions.Ability to stand for a long period of time.Able to lift or move up to 50lbs.Lift, bend, kneel and squat regularly.Work in close quarters in remote locations and may experience exposure to severe weather conditions and different types of wildlife.Stress and fatigue can be factors to working long hours, in close quarters, and staying in remote locations for up to three weeks.Horizon North Camps and Catering places a high value on our Safety Culture.Expected to participate in all meetings, Safety Stand Downs as well as our reporting procedures.Required to produce satisfactory results in pre-employment or pre-access tests which include drug, alcohol and/or fit to work tests.QualificationsMinimum 5 years’ recreation related experience, 3 of which should be in a progressive managerial role.College Degree or Diploma in Recreation, Sports Management, or other related fields is considered an asset.Experience in the remote camp and/or oil and gas industry is considered an asset.Superior leadership skills with focus on people management and problem solving.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with others.Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.Flexibility regarding work schedule including the willingness to work evenings and weekends.Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and First Aid certifications are mandatory.Additional InformationDexterra Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
