Job Description

KDM is a non-union Industrial Construction and Maintenance company and is past of the SECON Group of Companies.The ‘KDM’ of KDM Constructors stands for Kawacatoose, Day Star, and Muskowekwan First Nations.PositionReporting to the KDM Site Project Manager as well to the SECON Group Corporate Safety, you will be responsible for the overall safety management plan for all projects. You will play a leadership role with respect to safety for the KDM Constructors team and be responsible for supporting and maintaining the overall safety programThe position will be based on site at the BHP Jansen project in a camp environment, schedule will be determined based on project need, tentatively will be a Monday-Friday shift.Job Duties· Knowing relevant Safety laws, codes of practice and standards applicable to the project and province;· Reviewing project learning’s and best practice and incorporate into the project specific· Safety Management Plan;· Reviewing hazard identification (JHA’s) and risk assessments/matrix and ensure implementation of identified controls are effective;· Auditing of safety systems that are implemented in the field;· Act as Lead with field supervisors for incident investigations and reports;· Responsible for statistical analysis and injury/damage trend reviews and informing site management of the findings;· Workplace inspections, focus audits and competency checks where authorized and certified;· Conducting the KDM orientation for new employees/visitors;· Maintaining and updating the KDM training matrix via sitedocs program;· Maintaining and updating the site hazardous and controlled product registry (WHMIS);· Participating in plan task observation and behavior-based activities;· Participating, as appropriate, in responding to workplace incidents or emergencies;· Receipt and circulation of relevant Safety information;· Complete and submit all weekly safety activity reports for project to client;· Attend all weekly Client Progress meetings, speak on all safety related stats;· Site specific training for workers which would include all KDM’s safe work procedures and practices, Fire Extinguisher, Hazard Analysis, Spotter, Safe Work Observation cards, SCOT, TDG, Ground Disturbance, ect.;· Developing and updating the project Emergency Response Plan;· Audit implementation of corrective actions from incident investigations as well maintain an up to date site corrective action log. The corrective action log is to be posted in the crew and office trailers, actions will be audited to ensure they are implemented and effective;· Conduct the weekly site safety meeting for all KDM site employee’s;· Lead with site supervision in development of any site-specific Traffic Management Plans;· Support the site Occupational Health and Safety Committee;· Maintain the safety notice board/safety postings board for project on a weekly basis;· Submit all incident investigations along with corrective and preventative actions to client safety within expected time frame, depending on client requirements;· Complete lessons learned for all incident/injury and high potential near miss;· Reporting directly to the site Manager with an external reporting line to the Corporate safety;· Lead site injury case management; all WCB cases will be the responsibility of corporate safety with support from the site safety advisor to control onsite restricted or modified duties. A daily report for any modified/restricted work that is taking place will be submitted by the site safety advisor to the corporate safety;· Ordering off any site-specific safety gear and PPE;· Maintain a site log of all fire extinguishers, and ensure that a monthly inspection is completed on the extinguishers;· Track safety deliverables for KDM site supervision on a weekly basis;· All site safety documentation will be kept electronic and available to Corporate for uploading on KDM SharePoint server;· Set up site Drug and Alcohol testing for pre-access, post incident and reasonable cause as per the KDM Drug and Alcohol Policy;· Maintain all safety platfoms used by KDM Constructors (SiteDocs, ISNET, Avetta, Appruv, Cogni Box.· Maintain the COR certification Program (Annual through the SCSA)· Weekly safety reporting to Corporate office and clientsQualificationsThe successful candidate will have;· Knowledge of relevant safety laws, codes of practice and standards applicable to the project and province· Valid NCSO· Minimum 3 years’ in a safety supervisor role· Effective self-managing, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic· Ability to think critically and make independent decisions· Strong written and verbal communication skills· Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and be a team player· Computer knowledge (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)· Pre-employment medical exam and drug test will be required.Total CompensationWith this opportunity, a competitive Total Compensation Package, including fair and equitable wages and a comprehensive group benefit plan will be offered.We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those candidates with cover letters and resumes who fit the needs of the company will be contacted.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:
