This position will provide project management, asset management, and technical leadership, support, and expertise for recapitalization, rehabilitation, and repair projects for built assets in Jasper National Park and Fort St. James National Historic Site.The individual will manage projects from the preliminary design phase through to construction for Architectural and Engineering related projects. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to;
  • Project management activities on individual projects including developing and verifying project requirements, scope, budget, and schedule
  • Managing contractors and consultants at various phases of a project and managing the associated call-ups and contracts.
  • Developing consultant call-ups and scopes of work for contractors related to projects
  • Review of tender documents and specifications
  • Review of consultant and contractor deliverables
  • Working and engaging with Parks Canada Project Leads and stakeholders related to various projects
  • Processing progress billings for consultants and contractors associated with projects
  • Preparing budgets and supporting documents required to assist the Project Leads to prepare Request for Project Approval documents and related project updates

Degree equivalencyOCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONEligibility for Applied Science Technologist (AScT), Certified Technician (C Tech), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Architect or other equivalent designation through a provincial regulator.EXPERIENCE
  • Recent and relevant* experience in project management of new construction or rehabilitation projects, including planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling;
  • Recent and relevant* experience in site supervision of construction projects including site observation, reporting, and construction quality assurance;
  • Recent and relevant* experience in establishing and leading project teams and/or multi-disciplinary teams of technical specialists and coordinating work with internal/external stakeholders;
  • Recent and relevant* experience in the management of human and financial resources and in contract management, including management of project budgets, financial forecasts, and cost estimating;
  • Recent and relevant* experience in providing technical or project management support for construction, maintenance or repair of complex real property assets;
  • Recent and relevant* experience in facilitating discussions to reach agreement among parties with diverse views and interests.
  • Recent and relevant experience means that experience is within Canada and in relation to built assets. Requires a minimum of 4 years’ experience within the past 6 years, with project experience related to major repair, maintenance and/or rehabilitation of built assets. Minimum of 8 years of experience within the last 10 years for applicants with an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

  • Ability for effective management of project and maintenance budgets;
  • Ability to operate independently with full accountability and minimal supervision.

Conditions of employment
