Job Description

Celebrating 62 years of BusinessWe Bring Food to Your Family’s Table!A full-time Yard/Shunting Lead Hand position is available at our Baden,ON TerminalShift Details: Sunday; 7:00pm-3:30am, Mon-Thurs; 10:30pm-7:00am (Nights)Responsibilities:

  • To be able to circle check a shunt truck and move Erb equipment safely and properly.
  • Move trailers in and out of the dock and shops as requested through radio and satellite communications.
  • Organize trailer line up.
  • Refrigeration checks nightly at the start of each shift.
  • To understand and be able to set appropriate temperatures on reefers, understanding different settings i.e. dual temps, and different zones.
  • Wash trucks and trailers.
  • Supervise employees on shift. Delegate work and monitor performance, report any performance discrepancies to the Yard Supervisor.
  • Organize work for staff when necessary.
  • Assist supervisor when needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff are adhering to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Fill in for staff when required.
  • Train staff as required.
  • Report all accidents or injuries immediately to Yard Supervisor.
  • Fuel check trailers and fuel reefer tanks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent preferred.
  • 6 months previous experience in a transportation related field preferred.
  • Valid G Class License required.
  • Experience shunting trailers is required.
