Reference #: 09-0978School: Arviligruaq IlinniarvikCommunity: Kugaaruk, NUKitikmeot School Operations invites applications for the following position: PrincipalThe closing date for this competition is: May 9, 2021Start Date: August 9, 2021End Date: June 2024The status of this position is: TERMThe position is 1.0 PY (full-time position)School Description: Arviligruaq Ilinniarvik is a grade K-12 school with a population of 381 students and 40 staff.Required qualifications:Bachelor of Education degreeEligible for Nunavut Teaching CertificateMinimum 5 years experience as a classroom teacherDesired qualifications:Graduate training in Educational AdministrationExperience with school time tabling and programming to meet student needsGraduate training in Literacy and Assessment strategies consistent with Balanced LiteracyExperience working successfully with a local education authorityExperience in the use of educational software to maintain student records and record assessmentsExperience in leading a school team to accommodate diverse learning needsSuccessful leadership of school improvement initiativesDemonstrated ability to plan effectively on both short and long term to deploy school resourcesExperience in the site management of school resourcesDemonstrated effective communication in all formatsExperience working successfully in a cross-cultural learning environmentDemonstrated ability to mediate conflict and promote consensus among stakeholdersPlease note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.The salary for certified teachers ranges from $78,036 prorated/annum. to $122,360 prorated/annum.
