Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.This employment opportunity is open to all applicants.Reporting to the Director Health Programs; the Supervisor Health Programs (SHP) provides leadership, direction, and support to all Health employees. The SHP works with Community Health Nurses (CHNs), community health representatives and other health care professionals to provide health services to all community clients in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Health. Incumbents who are hired as Nurse Practitioners (NPs) will provide clinical support and guidance to CHNs and our health care team in keeping with their education preparation and NPs scope of practice.This is the senior position in the health center, which has responsibility for managing and providing direct clinical and administrative supervision and training for CHNs and support staff. The SHP manages a significant budget during each fiscal year for the provision of comprehensive health services in the community. Operating within a defined budget, the SHP is required to use sound judgement in allocating funds in the most appropriate manner. The SHP supports the provision of quality community health programming.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are typically acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma along with five (5) years of nursing experience with a minimum of one (1) year of northern nursing, and two (2) years supervisory experience. You must be eligible for RNANT/NU. You must be licensed and in good standing with RNANT/NU. NPs must have completed a Primary Health Care NP or Adult/Family All-Ages certification. First Aid and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification with annual renewal is also essential.Possession of one or more of the following is considered an asset: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Advances in Labor and Risk Management, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course and/or Trauma Nursing Core Course.For NPs, one (1) year nurse practitioner experience is an asset.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages is an asset.
