Job Description As a member of the interdisciplinary team, and under the general direction of the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals. Job Qualifications ExperienceMinimum of one year experience in addictions/mental health at the community or inpatient level would be desirable. Other InformationField HoursPreference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria. Additional Information QUALIFICATIONS:Addictions Counselling Diploma or equivalent program acceptable to the employer.LICENSING/REGISTRATIONProfessional registration with applicable professional association (if applicable)Valid Class 5 Driver #39;s license KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of the treatment of addictions related conditions including concurrent disorders, use of illicit drugs, alcohol and problem gambling.Ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary setting with clients with complex needs.Demonstrate knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on the family unit.Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related issues and make appropriate referrals.Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.Current and up to date knowledge of best practices in the addiction field and harm reduction strategies including methadone treatment modality.Knowledge of group dynamics.Demonstrated knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model, the Transtheoretical Model of Change and the Clinical Model of Recovery, knowledge of motivational interviewing modality and other best practice counselling modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy.Demonstrate knowledge of treating clients with multiple and severe addictions and/or concurrent disorders, Excellent problem solving skills are necessary.The successful candidate is responsible to obtain and provide an original Criminal Record Check (CRC)amp; Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from their local police service, RCMP or previous country/countries of residence that is dated within the past six (6) months that is satisfactory to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
