Do you want to drive change It’s time to come together and create tomorrow with an Internship role at Rio Tinto.About the roleWe are offering a 4-month Geology internship. This opportunity will be based based in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador at our Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) operations.This internship will allow you to have direct exposure to mine engineering work on an active mine site. You will support different activities relating to IOC’s Geologist.In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assist with geological and geotechnical core logging and sampling to collect pertinent data and ensure timely processing of samples.
  • Conduct field work related to the diamond drill program, such as: hole surveying, reconnaissance, and downhole installations.
  • Work to high standards for quality assurance, quality control and data validation of for all geological data.
What you’ll bring
  • At least one year completed* of Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering

  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Valid driving license
  • To be eligible for this internship, you must be returning to school after the work term and have the right to work in Canada.
