Job Description

Job Summary.Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) is a global hotel company with properties located in major cities and four continents under The Langham Hotels and Resorts and Cordis Hotels and Resorts brands. It is the hospitality arm of Great Eagle Holdings, a leading property development company in Hong Kong.Located in our Hong Kong headquarters, this opportunity is an integral part of the Corporate Development leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will take the lead on sourcing and developing leads for potential development projects (outside of PRC) to support LHG’s strategical growth and drive the acquisition and disposition of company-owned properties, joint ventures and/or management contracts.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop/execute development strategies and annual plans internationally (excluding PRC) for the distribution of LHG Brands to include acquisition and disposition goals within project timeframes
  • Establish and build a network of productive contacts and relationships including the likes of Real Estate Development Companies, Individual and Institutional Financial Investors, Hotel-owners, Hotel Management companies, Municipalities and Governmental Development Bodies
  • Source, evaluate, negotiate, and close deals on wholly-owned acquisitions, joint ventures and management contracts for conversions or new builds within strategic locations globally; assist with and/or lead due diligence efforts to ensure potential opportunities comply with established standards for the brand
  • Develop and manage business relationships with prospective owners/partners and build relationships with banks/lenders and other various institutional and private investment groups to support LHG’s growth and joint venture strategies
  • Work with outside firms as appropriate on market feasibility studies, site selections and pro-forma development to appropriately qualify deals and drive distribution into the right locations within targeted markets
  • Work with internal and external legal and financial professionals and LHG’s senior management in other key areas to include technical services, operations, marketing, HR to facilitate analysis, approval, and closure of prospective opportunities and the viability of deals which are consistent targeted growth and distribution strategies
  • Identify alternate strategies and vehicles for financing and/or restructuring of real estate loans to facilitate cost efficient deal structuring and partnering opportunities, and ensure deals meet desired projections on revenues and returns
  • Transition responsibilities to other parties (i.e. operations) following execution of all development responsibilities, as appropriate
  • Prepare and present development opportunities and proposals to appropriate parties to support LHG’s business strategies; provide a balance of sales and finance expertise in the negotiation process
  • Visit potential sites and hotels to report on each in the areas of location, impact issues, and brand suitability
  • Negotiate terms and signing of letters of intent. Provide follow-up as appropriate
  • Follow up on opportunistic leads, nurturing the selling processes until completion, making trade presentations, attending exhibitions and visiting hotels to assess potential for development or conversion to LHG
  • Provide follow-up, coordination of information and assistance on a variety of activities relating to purchasing of hotel equipment, completion of agreements, management contracts and facilitating information to new hotel opening management and staff
Requirement.
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, or Real Estate; or equivalent experience. MBA qualification preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial real estate firm or business partnership and/or hospitality companies
  • Thorough knowledge of finance principles and deal structuring as well as commercial real estate market
  • Knowledge and experience of hotel operations advantageous
  • Experience in deal flow/ closures; in-depth knowledge of management contracts, joint venture agreements, deal structuring, finance, and deal closure techniques
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead a team of technical staff to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and consensus-building skills
  • Effective presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical know-how and problem solving skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Significant travel required
