Job Role: We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Regional Team in Langley, BC.Reporting to the Vice President of Finance (VPF), the Senior Accountant mentors the branch accountants in compliance with IFRS standards around revenue recognition, accurate costing, and documentation requirements. They provide quality control and internal audits to ensure consistent accurate financial statements are produced for all stakeholders.

  • Internal audit and quality control
    • Assisting VPF with SOX documentation for monthly/quarterly/annual controls
    • Reviewing project accounting, documentation, and providing feedback to branch accounting
      • IFRS 15 earned value
        • Audit of major projects monthly for EV to production compliance
        • Audit of projectsgt;$1.5M CAD quarterly for EV to production compliance
      • Contractual documentations
        • Audit of contract/LOI/LOA/PO/etc., change orders and change order log
      • Project budget review to ensure accuracy of contract + change orders = GW’s budget
      • Review close out of complete projects (RNI, inventory, 3-way revenue match ERP)
      • Accounts receivable and retention notes review from branch accounting
  • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Population of quarterly templates for distribution to regional managers
    • Assistance with general overhead population of costs corporately and regionally
    • Population of corporate budget and forecasts
    • Data entry of budgets into accounting software
  • Financial reporting
    • Reviewing branch project accounting for weekly reporting
    • Assisting VPF with monthly financial reporting to UK parent company
    • Assisting VPF with annual statutory package population
    • Owner of branch accounting financial packages and accrual tool sheets
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • IFRS 16 leasing schedules
    • Populating/updating external Tagetik ERP
  • Mentoring branch accountants (dotted line)
    • Training of new branch accountants as needed
    • Establishing best practices utilizing process requirements governed by IFRS and internal procedures
    • Ad hoc process improvement and implementation
  • Main contact with annual audit and providing documentation as requested
  • Assisting VPF, VPAF, and CFO with ad-hoc reconciliations, analysis, and entries
  • Vacation cover-off
    • Branch Accountant – taking over region(s)
  • Other financial items as required
  • CPA designation
  • Experience with IFRS, application of accounting policies and account reconciliations
  • Minimum of three years of management experience
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience (with revenue recognition)
  • Experience in construction accounting in a multi-currency environment
