Job Description

For CUPE postings please refer to Article 9.01 (d) of the CUPE Collective Agreement to ensure you have met the eligibility requirements to apply to CUPE competitions.Employment Status Full Time Employment Type Regular Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Regional Director or Supervisor, this position is responsible for programming, marketing, and monitoring general interest, credit and non-credit programs in the Mackenzie area.Specific Duties

  • Liaise with community groups and members, as well as College personnel to identify and develop course and program ideas, prioritize, and determine activities the college will pursue.
  • Document project and course objectives and appropriate content, with the required community, faculty and administrative support and resources
  • Develop project and course budgets, negotiate budgets with internal and external partners.
  • Consult with instructors re: availability and requirements.
  • Prepare and follow up on all course documentation.
  • Ensure communication with the Regional Director and Supervisor for program plans and requirements.
  • Develop and arrange marketing strategies for courses.
  • Register students as required and provide course information.
  • Communicate with instructors, students, and operational staff regarding course changes, status, etc.
  • Open and close courses when required (weekends and evenings).
  • Review administrative course evaluations and make recommendations to the Regional Director.
  • Administer course and program evaluations. Advertise and promote courses and contracts through posters, displays, brochures,
  • Newsletters, calendars, newspapers, and public events.
  • Partner course delivery and contracts with other community organisations.
  • Inform part-time instructors regarding course objectives, content, prerequisites, and housekeeping items.
  • Conduct orientation with new instructors.
  • Support client and instructor in developing courses to meet client objectives.
  • Provide information and support as needed to assist in the preparation of funding proposals
  • Stay current regarding community issues, activities, and prominent community members.
  • Be visible to the public as CNC’s representative.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor courses to ensure instructor(s) has required equipment and material, including arranging facilities and travel arrangements.
  • Assess community general interest, vocational, and credit course needs.
  • Arrange for workshops, guest speakers, and organize classroom calendars.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of reporting structures that meet funding and sponsorship requests.
  • Maintain accurate detail while balancing several Ministry and funder reporting requirements
  • Work with Aboriginal Advisor to understand and meet the educational needs of Indigenous communities we serve
  • You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities.
  • You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.

Skills & Qualifications
  • One-year post secondary certificate in business management, marketing, or adult education with diploma preferred
  • Three years of comprehensive program coordination or administrative experience
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Flexibility of work habits.
  • Marketing experience preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving and judgement
  • Understanding of student access, retention, and cultural issues
  • Commitment to a learner centred focus
  • Proficient computer skills with competency in word processing and database management
