A safe and secure family focused community, with excellent home affordability, modern schools, activity centers, and health facilities on your doorstep.As an integral part of the Fibre Team, the Silviculture Superintendent is responsible for implementing Conifexs Silviculture Program. The Silviculture Superintendent requires liaising with the Harvesting team, Planning Superintendent, as well as First Nations, External Partners and Stakeholders to achieve these goals. Managing safety as well as contracts from subcontractors to ensure overall safety and cost efficiencies.Investing in our People - Building Our TeamDUTIES:

  • Gain leverage in contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers, by offering larger packages of work, more certainty and volume of work
  • Ensure internal and external compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, existing legislation and Sustainable Forest Management requirements including but not limited to contractors, employees, etc.
  • Conducting seed inventory planning and reconciliation
  • Seedling sourcing and procurement activities with nurseries
  • Preparation and vetting of major contracts (i.e. planting and nurseries)
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate calculation and reconciliation of silviculture accruals and reforestation liabilities
  • Providing support to the Planning Superintendent regarding stocking standards and relevant silviculture requirements of the Forest Stewardship Plan
  • Development of standard operating procedures & business processes around: Surveys, Free growing declarations, Stock types, Treatment activities and LRM data management
  • Mentoring staff in the calculation of silviculture accrual values
  • Providing support to the Planning Superintendent and Woodlands Manager in development and review of silviculture policies and legislation
  • Travel to logging camps with overnight stays required during peak season
Requirements
  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or Natural Resource Management. RPF, RFT
  • Registered as a forestry professional with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals
  • Strong work ethic and love of the outdoors
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, project management skills, and an ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to build partnerships with First Nations and stakeholders, and foster trust
  • Knowledge of applicable BC legislation and policies
  • Self-motivated team player with ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Strong computer skills and aptitude for forestry-based technologies
