A safe and secure family focused community, with excellent home affordability, modern schools, activity centers, and health facilities on your doorstep.Investing in our People - Building Our TeamAs an integral part of the Mackenzie Manufacturing Team, the Sawmill Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safety of all employees under his/her leadership, team morale, production targets, quality, and recovery, while working within approved budgets. The Sawmill Supervisor is responsible for the safety, organization, training, and leadership of all employees while ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company policies.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, support, and direction to direct reports as well as the implementation and management of the division safety program including incident investigation and reporting.
  • Lead the Team to follow department process flow and strategic direction.
  • Provide leadership and support in implementing corrective measures to overcome equipment and operational problems
  • Support a maintenance management system meeting the organizations requirements for safety, maintain high QC standards, quality work management, cost control, inventory management and information exchange.
  • Utilize resources effectively
  • Inspects facilities for deficiencies and prepares reports, writes work orders
  • Provide leadership and support Superintendent in ensuring cost targets are met with regard to budget
  • File Management - Synergen, Time and Attendance, Work Order Safety Tracking System, Sawmill regular safety inspections, etc. and any other programs used by the Company.
  • Administer Company, Government, & other regulated bodies, policies and practices including the Collective Agreement identifying actions required to achieve compliance
  • Provide leadership and support in achievement of the Corporate and Division goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an industrial environment including supervisory experience
  • Previous Sawmill or Planer operations leadership experience
  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Grading Ticket would be an asset
  • Registered as a forestry professional with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals would be an asset
  • Community College or University education would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability in safety leadership and team development skill
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and team building skill
  • Solid knowledge of performance management and continuous improvement processes
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of optimization equipment and processes
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing business conditions
  • An effective and positive communication style, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
