Job Description

Manning Park Resort is seeking an Accounting and Payroll Administrator with a strong business and financial acumen to live and work on site at MPR. This person will report directly to MPRs Accounting Manager, and will take full responsibility for payroll, and assist with managing the company’s accounting activities, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments.RESPONSIBILITIES:Payroll Management

  • Process full cycle bi-weekly payroll for 150+/- employees in a seasonal environment
  • Process new hire entries into payroll system and verify source documents
  • Process employee terminations in payroll system
  • Responsible for tracking staff housing related charges and deposits in payroll system
  • Process tips payments
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees, management, and external parties
  • Responsible for preparation of T4’s and ROE’s
  • Reconcile month-end accounts such as vacation accrual, payroll clearing, etc.
  • Review and approve payroll related invoices
  • Maintain and update SOP and payroll process flow chart
Benefits & RRSP Administration
  • Develop working knowledge in the benefits provided by the group
  • Administer and respond to any benefit questions from employees
  • RRSP Enrollment and queries
Accounting Administration
  • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Verify transactions are recorded in the correct ledgers
  • Create and manage accounting reconciliations and schedules
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations, including posting bank transactions
  • Process accounts payable/receivable in a timely manner
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative responsibilities, as requested
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Payroll legislation and procedures
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll and benefits
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) (in progress or completion) preferred
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software such as QuickBooks (asset) and Ceridian Dayforce (required)
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite)
  • 5+ years in a progressive bookkeeping role
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills; ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Flexibility to work a variety of days/hours
