Job DescriptionThe Public Works Clerk Typist (1-Year Term) is on the front line as the key point of contact between the public and the City to provide customer service and find creative ways to solve challenges.As a Public Works Clerk Typist, you will work with customers to answer inquiries, guide residents through processes, help complete forms, and provide information.You will be focused on details with strong organizational and typing skills, and take the time to listen to effectively deliver what is most helpful for the customer and for your team. The Public Works Clerk Typist (1-Year Term) also provides administrative and clerical support for the City of Merritt’s team and other internal stakeholders by keeping records and files, entering and retrieving data to/from computerized information systems, and ensuring all records are accurate and complete.The incumbent will be responsible for ordering and organizing stationery and supplies in the office and ensuring office equipment is in working order. This position involves responding to and resolving high volumes of internal and external customer service requests and complaints and demands confidential discretion. This is a 40-hour work week position.
