Job Description

Job DescriptionThe Level II Water and Wastewater Operator provides essential services to the residents of Merritt by ensuring the safe and environmentally conscious handling of water and wastewater.Based out of Merritt’s Wastewater Treatment Centre, the incumbent, under the guidance and leadership of the Chief Plant Operator, participates in the safe operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems to deliver clean, potable, and safe water to residents of Merritt.Level II Water and Wastewater Operators ensure operations comply with the City’s expectations and the Federal and Provincial environmental standards and regulations. Performing highly skilled operational and maintenance work of a complex nature such as inspecting equipment, servicing equipment, carrying out preventative maintenance and ensuring records are accurate and up to date.The incumbent will work collaboratively with the team, supporting the overall operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Wastewater Collection System, Water Treatment System, Water Distribution System. Operators are also required to attend some after-hour emergencies, work weekends within a rotating schedule, and be available to work on call on a rotating schedule.This position requires a 40-hour work week.
