Our professional engineers and scientists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including manufacturing, industry, commercial, transportation, and government. We offer a full suite of services including design and permitting, monitoring programs, predictive modelling, Greenhouse Gas emission quantification and verification, as well as planning and policy studies.We have an immediate opening for an Air Quality Engineering Intern (EIT) or Scientist to join our team in our Hamilton or Markham office.Your Key Responsibilities- Conducting in-field and on-site setup, operation, and maintenance of air quality monitoring equipment.- Collection of data and information (desktop and at client facilities).- Data analysis and interpretation.- Scientific and engineering calculations.- Regulatory and literature review and research.- Predictive air dispersion modelling.- Authoring technical air quality related reports and documents.QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Experience conducting ambient air quality monitoring field work and report preparation would be an asset.- Strong quantitative and computer skills with Microsoft Office software is required.- Familiarity with estimation of contaminant emission rates using different methodologies (i.e., emission factors, engineering calculations, engineering judgment, etc.) and air dispersion modelling of stationary and mobile emission sources using modelling programs such as AERMOD would be an asset.- Experience with preparation of Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling Reports in Ontario would be an asset.- General understanding of Ontario air quality regulatory requirements and guidelines is needed.- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written in English) is required.- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team.- Comfort with climbing ladders and working on roofs and elevated platforms is needed.- Flexibility in scheduling is required for travel necessary for site work (normally travel would be within southern Ontario).- Ability and willingness to work from home with suitable internet service is required.- A valid driver #39;s license is required.Education and Experience- A Bachelor #39;s degree in Engineering, Meteorology, Atmospheric Chemistry, or related Environmental Sciences is required.- A Master #39;s degree in Engineering or relevant science would be an asset.- 1-3 years of related experience or relevant post graduate degree in lieu of work experience is being sought.- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for licensure in Ontario would be preferred.- Experience conducting ambient air quality monitoring field work and report preparation would be an asset.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other #39;s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
