Whether you are a team member or a customer, Farm Boy is passionate about creating a unique fresh food shopping experience and ensuring that we deliver on our commitments.As we continue to grow within Ontario, Farm Boy is excited to welcome new team members that share our passion for providing the best fresh shopping experience!Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for providing Food Safety training, coaching and guidance to our retail stores and Specialists on policy implementation and regulatory compliance within Ontario. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide Food Safety training and coaching to retail stores and retail support team on standards, procedures and policy implementation.
  • Organize Food Safety certification exam sessions in all regions to ensure required employees are up to date with regional requirements.
  • Ensure compliance and execution of all food safety standards, procedures and policies within all retail stores to internal and regulatory standards.
  • Provide coaching, training and follow-up, and review corrective action plans for Food Safety, Regulatory and Pest/Sanitation inspections to ensure your assigned stores are in compliance with all aspects of our Food Safety program.
  • Develop, update and maintain standards, logs, documentation and policies.
  • Conduct 3rd party verification audits in assigned facilities as required, ensuring all facilities are audited and follow-up activities are conducted within the required time frames.
  • Report relevant issues and metrics to your manager or retail support teams, and other stakeholders in a timely basis, and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Ensure proper record keeping and reporting/tracking of all retail visits in a timely manner.
  • Partner with other teams to operate as one integrated food safety, quality assurance and regulatory affairs team as agreed upon and assigned.
  • Respond with urgency to inquiries, emergency situations, recalls, etc.
  • Oversee the successful development and implementation within established due dates of objectives as well as other work assignments.
  • Build relationships with retail managers and team to achieve successful outcomes and decision making.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Be available after regular hours as required.
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires post-secondary degree in Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Food/Nutrition Science or Food Engineering along with 3-5 years Retail Operations or Food Manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Technical expertise in food safety; knowledge of processes to mitigate food safety and food quality issues; understanding of pest control and sanitation.
  • Understanding of Canadian Food Regulation (Federal, Provincial, Regional).
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written to effectively communicate requirements and coach employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate program improvements, including writing SOPs, training employees on new and existing programs and managing continuous improvement.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with a team.
  • Strong customer-service focus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel.
  • Requires significant travel between the GTA and Southwestern Ontario regions.
Workamp; Sensory Environment:
  • Exposure to eye strain from computer terminals.
  • May be required to perform physical tasks, including standing or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Required to travel extensively between Farm Boy stores, Home Office and/or Central Operations (must be flexible in terms of work schedule and location).
