About the Opportunity1. Executive and Team Management
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  • Work with the President on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating relationships with Advisory Boards, all Senior Managers and Customers
  • Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization #39;s mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
  • Mentor and develop the finance staff and other senior/department managers on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
  • Work closely with Controller on Performance Management and succession planning for the Finance team
2. Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Complete analysis of financial results; develop recommendations - strategic and tactical to help in formulating the company #39;s future direction
  • Development of financial planning and analysis mission and reports.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Make recommendations and work with the President to develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g., opening new operations, asset acquisition, new service launches, large customer pricing).
  • Lead acquisition due diligence.
  • Financial Information
  • Oversee the timely issuance of financial information
  • Maintain and report for all bank covenants
  • Responsible for all commodity and income tax requirements and filings
  • Liaise with the company’s accounting firm to ensure smooth annual review engagement. Lead process to streamline deliverables for the accounting firm to perform their annual work efficiently, and reduce their work/fee if possible
  • Communicate financial results to the President and the Advisory Board
3. Risk Management
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company #39;s risk profile
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Report and discuss risk issues with the President and the Advisory Boards
  • Build relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
  • Create company disaster recovery plan in collaboration with other functional leads
4. Funding
  • Manage cash balances and cash forecasts to ensure bank covenants are met
  • Arrange for debt and equity financing if needed
  • Build relationships with banks
About You
  • CPA
  • Transportation, Logistics, Shipping, Supply Chain, Distribution or related sector experience is strongly preferred
  • Min 15 years experience and currently at the CFO level or equivalent
  • Coming from a Small to Mid sized Companies with hands-on experience
