Job Description

Department: Peopleamp; CultureLocation/Territory:Mississauga, ONThis position is for a 12-month contract.WHAT DO WE DOWe create solutions for the people who keep our world flowing.For over 80 years, John Brooks Company has been solving fluid handling challenges for customers in various industries/markets across Canada by providing a diverse selection of engineered products and innovative system designs, focusing on customized solutions consisting of filtration, pump, spray, and valve products.THE ROLEThe Healthamp; Safety Coordinator will report to the Senior Manager, Peopleamp; Culture with a dotted line to the National Warehouse Operationsamp; Manufacturing Manager. This role will develop, implement, and provide guidance for Healthamp; Safety policies and programs across John Brooks ensuring that appropriate safety training and procedures are in-place to avoid preventable health and safety occurrences. The incumbent will also manage our Vendor Management Portals and play a crucial role as the primary liaison for documentation and compliance with customer requirements.DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIESHealthamp; Safety Compliance:

  • Work with Peopleamp; Culture (P amp;C) to ensure all H amp;S policies are updated, and new policies are developed as per regulations.
  • Provide H amp;S training and orientation to new hires and ongoing policy training for all staff (permanent and contract).
  • Work with P amp;C and the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to develop the H amp;S training plan for all employees.
  • Coordinate with the National Warehouse and Operations Manager to facilitate JHSC and organize meetings; maintain JHSC documents.
  • Conduct audits, track licenses and specialized training needs for different employees/departments, along with refresher requirements.
  • Complete Incident Investigations, reporting, and WSIB forms.
  • Coordinate first-aid training and ongoing safety awareness talks.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training sessions, and compliance activities.
  • Organize fire drills and manage emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Update H amp;S boards/notices across locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Vendor Management:
  • Oversee various Vendor Management Portals, such as Ariba and ISNET, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain and produce necessary documentation for portal management and compliance.
  • Act as the lead liaison with internal teams and external parties to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS
  • College or university degree and/or certification in Healthamp; Safety.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience in Healthamp; Safety in a similar environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution or operations industry preferred.
  • Project management experience required; strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity and understanding of Federal/Provincial Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Human Rights Code, WCB, WSIB etc.
  • Self-starter who proactively takes initiative on tasks and is willing to learn.
  • Strong proficiency in computer and software skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously; attention to detail is a must.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including effective communication (verbal and written), teamwork, and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Occasional travel may be required to our warehouses in different provinces.
