It’s better here.Description for Internal CandidatesThe Human Resources Business Partner – Claims (HRBP-Claims) is a high impact role that delivers exceptional HR support to the claims function– the largest functional group within of Definity Financial Corp. A team of 1,200 employees, the Claims function is fast-paced environment that investigates, evaluates, and settles insurance claims. Claims plays a vital role in supporting Definity’s customer promise to make insurance better. The HRBP-Claims reports to the Vice President of Human Resources Business Partners and leads a team of Human Resources Generalists. In addition to serving as a member of Definity’s award-winning Human Resources function, HRBP-Claims works collaboratively with the Claims SLT and is a highly valued participant in Claims SLT meetings. Working in a hybrid work model (~3 days per week in office), the HRBP-Claims is based in Mississauga and spends one or two days per month in Definity’s downtown Toronto and Waterloo offices. HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS PARTNER ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic AccountabilitiesIn partnership with the VP of HR Business Partners and the Claims SLT, establishes the multi-year Claims People Plan to support the achievement of key short- and long-term business objectives.Operational Accountabilities HR AdvisoryLeveraging HR acumen and business operations knowledge, establishes credibility, trust, and influence with at all levels of the Claims function. Partner with Claims leaders to achieve key objectives:delivering a caring claims experience ensuring disciplined financial management making it easier to do great work making Definity a great place to work being tough on fraudBe a trusted advisor for Claims leaders on all aspects of HR including employee relations, recruitment, compensation, talent review, organization design, resource planning, learning and career development. Provides HR guidance to leaders on a wide range of HR matters including complex employee relations matters, including investigations and complex return to work plans with support from HR leadership and legal team members. Coach Claims leaders on how to deliver effective feedback, build high performing teams, and develop talent. Ensure leaders understand and follow HR legislation and Definity HR policiesHR DeliveryLead the implementation of the Claims People Plan Collaborate with subject matter experts within HR on the design, implementation, and sustainment of HR systems and processes that enable the successful achievement of strategic business goals. Provide HR consulting services to employees and leaders on HR programs, practices, policies, legislation and regulatory requirements including interpretation of policy, identification of risk, impact to the business and recommended solutions (e.g. annual performance management, compensation review process, engagement etc.). Guide and influence decisions on talent management, including succession planning, assessing candidates, and identification of enterprise-wide talent. Provide thoughtful and effective coaching to leaders on performance management, structural and staffing issues, including: compensation, organization design, employee engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness. Interpret and analyze data to assist in making appropriate business decisions based on HR metrics and trends. Proactively monitor employee experience and HR risk across all client groups, proactively raising issues. Support the HR workstreams of key business initiatives – includes input to and delivery of project/change management, organization design, workforce planning, employee communications.HR ProcessSupport the overall effectiveness of Definity’s HR function by partnering with HR peers to improve HR processes and programs. Represent the Claims business context to other HR functions in the design of HR programs (e.g. performance assessment planning, talent management activities including assessment of potential and succession planning, compensation reviews, etc.) Maintain a highly informed view of employment law and HR best practices and proactively share suggestions to enhance Definity’s HR processes.People Leadership Accountabilities The HRBP-Claims will assume leadership of a strong team of HR Generalists. Key leadership accountabilities include:Model the organization’s values, ensure team members are highly engaged, productive, and continuing to increase their impact on the effectiveness of the Claims function. Set clear and ambitious goals (with supporting metrics) that meaningfully elevate the team’s impact on the business. Actively work with team and the overall HR organization to coach, develop and unleash potential of HR team members.What you #39;ll bring to the roleUniversity degree or College diploma. CHRL designation or equivalent. A minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible and related experience in Human Resources including Performance Management, Talent Management, Learning and Development, Organization Design, Compensation principles as well as policies and related legislation. Experience working in the financial services industry is an asset. A high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts. Advanced knowledge of business strategy and financial acumen to align both business objectives and HR strategies with corporate goals to maximize shareholder value. You have strong diagnostic skills followed by a good ability to evaluate options/alternatives and to develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues.
