  • Analyzes/defines operational opportunities primarily within site operations by conducting detailed operational, value stream and financial analyses, interviewing key personnel, and observing operations.
  • Builds specific proposals for operational improvement projects to senior management, including basic cost-benefit analysis, based on assessment of opportunities.
  • Directly leads and/or runs approved operational improvement projects, ensuring projects achieve desired objectives.
  • Maintains projects on time and budget, reporting to Sr Leader of Operations Excellence, leads expectations and risk, and ensures post-implementation benefits are realized.
  • Calculates savings realized through projects, working with Finance and Project sponsors to achieve agreed final financial impact of project.
  • Provides #39; mentoring and support to project leads (typically Green Belts) as advised by Sr Leader of Operational Excellence.
Operational Excellence Program
  • Supports the development of an operational excellence culture by using the various methodologies and tools such as: lean manufacturing, six sigma, pull manufacturing, total productive maintenance, waste reduction in scrap, cycle time, Work in Progress (WIP), scrap, labour utilization.
  • Establishes relationships with Patheon #39;s leaders to understand their business objectives, priorities, and develop supporting improvement initiatives.
  • Develops a deep understanding of Patheon #39;s manufacturing sites #39; capabilities and processes.
  • Stays abreast of new developments in business process improvement methodology and best practices, including learning from other Patheon sites, market leaders and industries.
  • Acts as an internal consultant for sharing and implementation of operational excellence best practices primarily within site.
  • Assists in the education and training of site staff, including the shop floor level, on operational excellence principles.
How will you get here:Education:High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.Post-secondary education preferred.Experience:Minimum 2 years of related experience post-University graduation.Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.Project management experience as well as knowledge of operational excellence concepts and tools, such as value stream mapping, business process re-design, Lean Six Sigma, Root cause identification and confirmation, solution modeling and simulation, cycle time reduction, facility layout design, Tracking financial improvements, Smart Sheets, Power BI etc. - an asset.Equivalency:Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills - verbal, written, presentation. Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines and to lead multiple projects and tasks while training and mentoring others. Exceptional partnership skills. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems SOP #39;s and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.  Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner.  Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.Physical Requirements:Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
