The HSE Officer will have primary responsibility to design, adapt, implement and maintain the company’s health and safety management system. The HSE Officer will be responsible to understand the HSE compliance requirements in the jurisdictions where the company operates, build and manage the complementary HSE programs, and advise project teams on HSE specific standards and reporting. The HSE Officer will provide coaching and Officer to build HSE capacity and capability within the company, project teams and the contractor workforce. This role will report to the HSE Lead.Key Responsibilities:• Help design and cultivate a behavior-based HSE culture in the company.• Design, implement and maintain the company HSE Management System.• Ensure that HSE protection compliant standard work procedures and systems are developed, implemented, understood and monitored.• Ensure that incidents are reported, recorded, and translated into system or behavioral improvements.• Ensure that all team members are adequately trained in HSE standards and requirements to properly complete work.• Attend safety/toolbox meetings and communicate expectations with a focus of continued improvement of the HSE Management System and to address team member concerns.• Provide a high level of safety expertise, coaching and mentorship• Officer HSE initiatives and continuous improvement plans, including transparent HSE KPIs and statistics in a dashboard or similar format.• Develop reports on compliance, improvement, and workforce engagement.• Participate in operational and major hazard risk assessments and audit activities.• Take part in incident investigation and ensure that reporting is completed with closure action plans.• Investigate all near misses and Non-conformity in line with Clients guidelinesAssumes responsibility for the operational management of safety.▪ Oversee security screenings. Ensure that information is collected and analyzed in accordance with established procedures and related legal requirements.▪ Oversee the physical security of all facilities. Evaluate the effectiveness of alarm systems and other security devices. Ensure that safety equipment effectively protects employees, assets, and customers.▪ Supervise and provide health and safety training. Assess training needs and develop or lead programs to meet those needs. Ensure compliance with the Company #39;s policies and regulations.▪ Prepare and follow up on the various security audits according to the schedule.▪ Supervise tasks related to the duties of the preventionist.▪ Ensure the certification of subcontractors and visitors in terms of health and safety and ensure training in the reception of the latter.▪ Attend training sessions to update technical and managerial knowledge as needed.Assumes responsibility for related duties as required.▪ Complete assigned special projects.▪ Perform all other related tasks.▪ Ensure that our Enviromental permits and procedures are followed and that we meet the expectations we have promised QUALIFICATIONSBilingual French and EnglishOur ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience including construction, manufacturing, mineral exploration, mining or related field experience,University degree/ Diploma in occupational healthamp; safety; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate understanding of HSE issues and risks in mineral exploration and knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and practices.In addition to the above, you will have:• Considerable experience implementing and supporting safety programs, workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations (using Taproot, ICAM, ICS or similar programs).• Basic First Aid Certificate• Ability to guide supervisory staff on safety matters through active listening and transparent communication.• Strong analytical and research skills and a high degree of integrity and professionalism.• Can facilitate in-house safety training.• Sound knowledge and ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and legislation such as Workers compensation, occupational health, Mining Regulation and Environmental RegulationsEXPERIENCE▪ Knowledge of provincial, federal, and local regulations.▪ Analytical and problem-solving skills.▪ Autonomy and organization.▪ Ability to communicate, fluent in French and with various computer applications.APPLYPlease submit your CV and application details by email.
