Job Description

Legal Assistant – Litigation Our client, a respected law firm, is seeking a legal assistant with experience in commercial litigation for their Montréal office. This role involves providing comprehensive legal and administrative support to two or three litigation lawyers. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.What is in it for you:• Annual salary between $65.000 and $75.000, depending on experience.• Permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week, 5-day workweek).• On-site start with a transition to a hybrid model after the onboarding period.• Hybrid work model: minimum of three days per week in the office.• Comprehensive group insurance coverage from day one, fully paid by the employer for employees and their dependents: life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, prescription drug coverage, dental care, vision care, extended health care, travel insurance, and disability insurance.• Employer contribution of 5% to a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP).• 4 to 5 weeks of paid vacation and personal leave per year.• Unlimited personal days.• 11 statutory holidays and 1 floating holiday.• Health and wellness programs: employee and family assistance program, mental health support program, and telemedicine services.• $1.000 reimbursement for wellness-related expenses.• Training and education program offering up to $1.000 per year.• A firm committed to community giving and providing pro bono legal services.• Several annual social events and activities.• Corporate discounts on various products and services.• A collaborative environment where team members, regardless of their background, feel valued and encouraged to share their ideas.Responsibilities:• Draft correspondence and prepare and revise legal documents• Finalize proceedings for notification and court filing as applicable• Communicate and liaise with bailiffs and court representatives• Take part in swearing-in activities as needed• Monitor procedural delays• Manage deadlines, plan meetings and appointments, and update lawyers’ calendars• Organize lawyers’ business trips and make necessary reservations• Revise and proofread documents for grammar, formatting, and compliance with legal requirements and firm standards• Manage files, documents, and folders using various storage and archiving applications such as Closing Folders, Sharefile, and virtual data rooms• Assist lawyers with business development projects and maintain the professional contacts database• Process data related to time tracking, expenses, and file openings• Liaise with clients, colleagues, support departments, and external parties• Follow up on billing of lawyers’ matters in coordination with Billing Specialists• Transcribe dictations, audio notes, and other recordings• Participate in the onboarding of new team members• Perform any related administrative tasksWhat you will need to succeed:• Attestation of Collegial Studies (ACS) in legal secretarial studies or Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS) in office systems technology; a DCS in paralegal technology would be an asset• At least ten years of relevant experience, including within a professional services firm• Knowledge of Federal Court, Tax Court of Canada, and Supreme Court of Canada proceedings would be an asset• In-depth knowledge of Québec litigation proceedings would be an asset• In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail• Ability to act proactively, demonstrate motivation, and anticipate needs• Ability to manage priorities and work within tight deadlines• Discretion, critical thinking, and good judgment• Team-oriented mindset• Fluency in French (oral and written) to support clients in both languages.• Fluency in English (oral and written) to support clients in both languages.Why Recruit ActionRecruit Action (agency permit: AP-2000003) provides recruitment services through quality support and a personalized approach to job seekers and businesses.
