Job Description

Manager, Legal Services This position is offered on behalf of a client in the legal sector, with offices in Montréal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. The firm is recognized for its multidisciplinary and innovative approach to litigation. The role involves overseeing legal support services in Montréal while acting as an occasional resource for the other offices nationwide.The Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate has solid experience in legal support or legal management, thrives in a collaborative and results-oriented environment, and demonstrates leadership, organization, and strategic thinking. They play a key role in the development of support teams and actively contribute to their performance and professional growth.What is in it for you:• Annual salary of $75.000.• Permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week).• Comprehensive benefits package, including extended health, dental, long-term disability (LTD), and critical illness insurance.• Paid vacation weeks.• Wellness account and financial support for continuing education or training.• Casual dress code.• Early end of workday before statutory holidays.• 100% in-office position located in downtown Montréal.Responsibilities:• Supervise legal assistants, paralegals, and other administrative groups in the Montréal office.• Serve as a resource person for the Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto offices as needed.• Participate in performance management: probation and annual evaluations, improvement plans, in collaboration with HR.• Support lawyers in managing their support teams.• Manage support team assignments, optimize workload distribution, and adjust teams based on needs.• Identify professional development opportunities and coordinate training with internal resources• Participate in the recruitment process for legal support staff.• Recommend compensation and raises based on market trends and budget.• Oversee employee departures: coordination, transition, communication.• Approve leaves, organize replacements, and manage payroll notifications.• Track absences or abuse of leave and report to HR.• Supervise internship programs in partnership with educational institutions.• Address workload issues, communication, and conflicts within the support team.• Review billable hours of team members on a quarterly basis.• Manage extended leaves in collaboration with HR, including temporary task reassignments.• Appoint mentors for new team members and ensure their integration.• Approve overtime hours.• Organize quarterly team meetings.• Manage reimbursement requests related to professional development policy.• Participate in offboarding and workforce planning procedures with HR.• Perform any other duties related to legal support management.What you will need to succeed:• Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field (an asset).• 5+ years of experience in legal support or management.• Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal (an asset).• Strong understanding of legal industry standards and practices.• Proven leadership and team management skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Mastery of performance management and talent development.• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.• Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written) to ensure effective communication and team management nationwide.• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and HR management software.• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, along with excellent organization, time management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, clear communication, and strategic planning abilities.Why Recruit ActionRecruit Action (agency permit: AP-2504511) provides recruitment services through quality support and a personalized approach to job seekers and businesses.
