Sturgeon County is recruiting for a casual bus driver to operate a 20-21 passenger van within our community! This is a perfect position if you are looking for part time work with a flexible schedule or if you’re a commercial driver who would like to supplement a part-time job. If you enjoy working with people and would like to work in a position where you can support opportunities for recreational and social activities for our community, consider applying.Sturgeon County provides and respectful work environment and values safety of their employees and the residents we serve.Job Duties: Ensures van or bus is operated in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time scheduleReport any mechanical irregularities in addition to reporting on the post trip inspection reports.Provides physical assistance to passengers as required, handle and assist clients using wheelchairs, walkers and other ambulatory aids.Be knowledgeable of all aspects of the bus service in order to provide helpful, supportive, and courteous service to riders.Maintains appropriate and accurate records as required.Report any difficult situations to the supervisor and makes recommendations regarding solutions.Complete and document pre and post trip inspections.Keep the van or bus clean and tidy in appearance.Ensures van or bus is filled with gas after each trip.Maintains a clean and professional appearance and demeanor.Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.Job Qualifications and Skills: A minimum Class 4 Alberta Drivers License;An acceptable Drivers Abstract;Good knowledge of the geography of the service area;Vulnerable Sectors Check;Defensive Driving;National Safety Codes Driver Training.Must be punctual and able to work work effectively and efficiently with no supervisionMust be able to communicate openly, take direction well, and enjoy interacting with people.Physical job requirements include: occasional lifting of 30 pounds, sitting and standing for extended periods of time.Job Conditions: Transit environment: early, split shifts may be required;Safety focused, clean respectful environment;Interaction with the public.Work performed within the County.Job Type: CasualQuick Apply
