Job Description

Your Opportunity:The purpose of the Therapy Aide in the day program environment is to assist with the planning and delivering of age appropriate activities to a group of older adults with physical, mental and cognitive challenges. The position is vital to engaging clients, motivating their involvement and meeting their personal needs as identified on the clients care plan. They also assist to keep the space clean and free of hazards. Need to be able to work as part of a team and collaborate with other professional staff. Services are provided to clients that have a wide range of physical and/or cognitive needs requiring a supportive care environment. Duties of this position include: Assists with implementation of basic individual and group programs as established in the treatment/care plan for clients at the day program. Promotes client comfort, safety, independence and motivates client to actively participate in the planned day program activities. Assists clients with basic ADLs and IADLs within the context of the day program. These include meal setup; mobility assists and assistance with transfers and toileting. Contributes to planning, setting up and cleaning up with the activities at day program in conjunction with other staff. Identifies and orders equipment and supplies, checks, cleans and maintains equipment as assigned. Maintains equipment as assigned, including tracking of cleaning and maintenance schedules. Position works Monday to Friday. Shift length is 6.20 and start time will be between 0800 and 0900.Description:As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.
