Sturgeon County is looking for a Digital Communications Assistant (also referred to as Web Technician with Service Canada)! This position will be tasked with working with our Digital Communications Coordinator to produce new and catalogue existing digital content such as articles, videos, and photography. The position will help enhance the search functionality of the Countys website (external) and well as the Countys existing digital assets (internal). There may be additional writing, graphic design, and videography opportunities within this position as well. The following skills will be developed as part of this opportunity: digital content creation and curation, enhanced research and analysis abilities, writing, editing, video-editing, photo-editing, and time management/priority setting.This position is partly funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. If you have an interest in Economic Development and eager and quick to learn within a close-knit work environment, we encourage you to apply!Job DutiesAssist with updating and maintaining Sturgeon County’s website.Assist with ensuring Sturgeon County’s website has optimal SEO.Produce new digital content such as articles, video B-ROLL, and photography.Act as primary or second camera on shoots.Catalogue the County’s existing digital assets, photo and video.Curation of social media content as required and other tasks that may be assigned.Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.Job Qualifications and SkillsAbility to provide and maintain a home-based office as a condition of employment, with the ability to work from the Sturgeon County office or travel outside of the community, when required.Priority will be given to those who are currently enrolled in a Business, Management, Marketing or related program at a recognized post-secondary educational institution.Ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service in a consistent and professional manner.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to come up with creative ideas and solutions to support Corporate Communications department priorities.Experience working both independently and in group settings.Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office products.Experience or knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is considered an asset.Valid Alberta Class Five driver’s license is required.Job Type: Full-timeQuick Apply
