Job Description

Duties:

  • Provide direct support to students with severe communication disabilities under the direction of the SLP in the school setting
  • Under the guidance of the SLP, assist with the creation, programming and maintenance of assistive communication devices and systems as well as facilitate the education of students and staff with respect to the use, maintenance and limitations of these devices
  • Under the guidance of the SLP offer target interventions to groups within the school setting
  • Collect data to inform treatment plans and other documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Completion of a formal post-secondary educational training program for SLP assistants from a community college or university including a clinical practicum component
  • Registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) issued by the Therapy Assistant Association of Alberta (THAAA)
  • Knowledge of Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display is an asset
  • Experience with using Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC)
