Sturgeon Public School Division is currently seeking Learning Coaches (K-4) to support classroom teachers with designing instruction to provide access for all students to curricular outcomes.The Learning Coaches play a key role in working collaboratively with Learning Support Leads, teachers, students, parents, the Division Complex Services Team and other staff members. The Learning Coaches will exhibit excellent communication skills and a proven ability to adopt a solution-focused, collaborative approach. The position requires a high degree of adaptability, empathy, keen attention to details, accuracy and the ability to prioritize decision-making. The Learning Coaches must be independent, self-motivated and have excellent time management skills.DUTIES:The Learning Coaches must carry out professional responsibilities and provide services in accordance with Sturgeon Public School Division policies, ensuring that these activities are within the limits of their knowledge, experience and skill. As members of a school-based team duties of this role include but are not limited to:Possess and apply appropriate, in-depth curriculum knowledge with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy, curriculum integration and cross-curricular connectionsSupport implementation of Alberta’s new curriculumThrough coaching, modeling and demonstration, provide support to classroom teachers in designing instruction, supporting positive behavior, and the use of appropriate technology for learningAssist in determining the most appropriate strategies, accommodations and/or programs for specific studentsProvide direction around assessment and learning for students with diverse learning needsCollaborate with the school learning team to provide a responsive, engaging and welcoming environment for all studentsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:The Learning Coaches are required to possess:A valid Alberta Teaching CertificateSuccessful experience in leading and implementing school wide programs and initiativesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:As an integral member of the school learning team, the Learning Coaches are required to demonstrate the following:Proven master teacher with a passion for evidenced based learning in the classroom who can work with the school learning team to develop strong pedagogy throughout the schoolAbility to coordinate and lead collaborative meetings to meet the needs of all students in the classroom in collaboration with school administrationAssist in supporting classroom teachers with the development and monitoring of SLP/IPP’sSupport classroom teachers with implementation of programing recommendationsQualified applicants are invited to submit a detailed cover letter and resume online at www.sturgeon.ab.caAll completed applications received by the deadline will be considered.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
