Sturgeon County is recruiting a dynamic Family and Community Support Services Manager to join our team! The FCSS department is passionate about providing high quality social and recreational programming to enhance the quality of life in Sturgeon County. This critical position is responsible for the management and administration of all activities and resources required to carry out County programming. If youre a strong leader who is passionate about community and genuinely care about the well-being of those who reside there, we encourage you to apply!Job Duties: Direct activities of professional and technical staff members to ensure completion of all programs outlined in the annual department business plan in alignment with the Corporate Strategic Plan.Ensure that department activities are adequately resourced by preparing, monitoring and controlling the annual department capital and operating budgets.Develop, implement, monitor and report department service levels.Establish, communicate, and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by council, boards, or senior management.Develop social initiatives and key processes that support community well-being through the County Ecosystem model.Support the development of a Social Master Plan with key action items and delivery model aligned with the Corporate Strategic Plan.Respond to public inquiries and complaints related to department programs while maintaining good public relations.Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in community in order to meet community needs and to ensure that services are not duplicated.Facilitate the development of strategies, initiatives and programs aimed at achieving the Community Services Advisory and Gravel Extraction Committee’s Boards Mandate for Council approval and direction.Responsible to collaborate and liaise with community organizations and agencies.Provides oversight to capital and other Family & Community Support projects related to planning, budgeting, tendering and project management.Provides personnel leadership of the Family & Community Support Department including hiring, promoting, succession planning, goal setting, information sharing, training and performance evaluation.Prepares reports to Council regarding the Family & Community Support Department.Participate as a member of the Municipality’s leadership team and management group, assumes cross-departmental responsibility for developing and assisting with corporate initiatives.Evaluate the work of staff in order to ensure that programs are of appropriate quality and that resources are used effectively.Represent the interests of Sturgeon County on local, regional and provincial committees that address a myriad of social issues.Responsible for completing and delivering FCSS Program Outcome Report to Provincial Government and the Family Community Support Services Association of Alberta.Support intermunicipal collaboration initiatives and recreation cost sharing agreements as appropriate.Responsible and accountable for the safety of staff and visitors as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.Job Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor of Recreation Administration or a post-secondary education in a related discipline with 5-10 years related experience in the field of Family Community Support Services and Recreation.Minimum of two years managerial experience is required.Have or working towards CLGM would be an asset.Strong leadership and management skills which include: excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills; experience in personnel management; ability to make recommendations and decisions; negotiation skills; knowledge of budgeting and monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance to the budget; ability to plan, organize and supervisor a relevant project ensuring completion in a timely and efficient manner. Additional skills include developing others, strategic and analytical thinking, teamwork and cooperation, team building, visionary and change agent, and the ability to influence others are important competency skills to possess.Ability to build and maintain a good working relationship with various community groups/associations and lead a team of employees is important.In depth knowledge of Family Community Support Services provincial program is required.Work is performed in a quiet office environment.Job Type: Full-timeQuick Apply
