Job Description

What can I expect to do in this roleYou will lead the day-to-day co-ordination of activities for the Accounts Receivable function using an integrated financial management system. Position is responsible for the following duties:

  • Organizes workload and assigns duties to ensure deadlines are met including the accurate processing, recording, reporting and reconciliation of revenue and accounts received in compliance with government policies and regulations.
  • Co-ordinates the balancing of all daily revenues received from all sales outlets within SLPC business units.
  • Co-ordinates data entry of revenue information into Sage 300 ERP and other account receivable ERP systems and modules.
  • Reconciles bank deposits and reports with bank statements as well as bank deposits to sales information by area.
  • Conducts cash handling site audits at business and functional units.
  • Ensures the integrity and timely entry of financial information for the preparation of month-end reports; prepares month-end statement of accounts.
  • Provides advice to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Provides guidance and interpretation to managers, supervisors, and staff regarding the processing and AR accounting of invoices and daily sales.
  • Prepares accounts receivable interim and year-end audit documentation.
  • Continually strive to make AR more efficient by improving existing processes and supporting implementation of automated technology solutions.
  • Work with customers and business units to ensure timely collection of aged receivables.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports as required.
  • Practice regular review and full compliance with SLPCs accounts receivable directive.
  • Support other finance department functions as required and other tasks as assigned by Finance Manager.
  • Embody the SLPCs equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
How do I qualifyKNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEYou have:
  • Experience in processing AR transactions utilizing computerized information systems in a high-volume environment.
  • Sound knowledge of financial automation software, automated banking reconciliation software, point-of-sales systems, online payment systems, and online banking to input, retrieve and manipulate financial data.
  • Demonstrated, progressive experience in accounts receivables to maintain and establish policiesand procedures and to understand government regulations.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to accurately maintain financial management system.
  • Knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience of timely collection of aged receivables.
LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLSYou have:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with staff and suppliers in a professional, tactful, and effective way and with the public in obtaining/providing information and collecting overdue accounts.
  • Strong supervisory skills to establish priorities and coordinate the work of the unit to meet deadlines.
COMPUTER, ORGANIZATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL SKILLSYou have:
  • The ability to plan, organize and implement AR accounting procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess business problems related to the AR function and develop solutions.
  • Proficiency with computerized financial management systems and various software to access data, prepare reports, spreadsheets, financial statements, etc.
