Job Description

Position Overview:Reporting to the Superintendent, Health and Safety, the Advisor, Health & Safety provides administrative support to the Superintendent and the Manager and is the first point of contact for the department in addressing and routing inquiries through email and staff inquiries. Development opportunity will be available for the right individual to progress within the department.Responsibilities:Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Provide administrative assistance
  • Organize weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
  • Review incident reports for completeness and enter into the incident report database and obtain signatures on the original incident report.
  • Follow up on corrective actions that have not been closed out on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Assist in the delivery of site safety inductions for employees and contractors (as needed) and assist in the development of departmental orientations and ensure content is continuously updated to address risks/changes/improvements.
  • Participate in the development of the H&S Management Systems, understanding the relative value, interpreting results, and advising staff on how to improve H&S performance.
  • Provide support to Mount Milligan management, staff and various site contractors and vendors in the interpreting and applying H&S policies, regulations and legislation.
  • Work with the H&S Sr. Coordinators in the development of training and awareness programs for the sites Industrial Hygiene, Air Quality Monitoring Program and MSD Prevention Program.
  • Participate in developing and reviewing safe operating procedures for the mine site and help set up a document control process to manage a procedure register.
  • Maintain electronic spreadsheets related to incident investigations, action tracking and H&S related data.
  • Support collection, analysis and distribution of safety and training KPI’s
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) inspections and meetings
  • Assist in the development of a workplace inspection program, and when available conduct inspections and identity opportunities for safety improvements
Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years experience as a safety advisor/administrator
  • Certification in occupational health and safety, environment, or industrial hygiene required
  • Ability to build key relationships with cross-functional, internal, and external stakeholders
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • The team is of very energetic and dedicated professionals
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 10 hours in duration
  • Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Work Schedule for this position will be 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours per day.
