Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, the Supervisor, Learning & Development will be responsible for improving the productivity of Mount Milligan employees by developing and customizing programs which will facilitate career development and progression for all Mount Milligan employees, with an emphasis on those areas which are critical to Mount Milligan’s success and continued growth.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all training intake and employee assistance requests pertaining to Mount Milligan’s Learning Management System, ensuring an exceptional learner experience.
  • Formulate and execute a site wide training plan, across departments, aligned to the operation’s current and future business objectives, with an emphasis on driving personal and professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Conducts annual learning and development needs assessment.
  • Develops learning and development programs and objectives.
  • Administers spending against the departmental budget.
  • Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies for employee development and training events.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of Mount Milligan.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of learning and development relative to the achievement of agreed business objectives.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive learning & development or human resources experience, ideally within the mining industry, resource sector or industrial setting.
  • Experience in designing e-learning content.
  • The ability to work closely and build strong relationships with operating departments who will be the primary recipients of training opportunities, and the principal customer of the incumbent’s services and offerings.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and listening skills.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Employees accessing the site from outside the region are eligible to receive a tax-free travel allowance commensurate with the distance they are required to travel.
  • The rotations will be flexible. 4 x 3 10 hours per day or 7 x 7 12 hours per day or 14 x 14 12 hours per day.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration, depending upon the rotation.
  • Able to work in close quarters with a dedicated team of professionals.
  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
