ABOUT ELEPHANT ISLAND WINERY:Elephant Island Winery was founded in 1999. Our wines are born in sunshine and clay banks, late afternoon lake breezes, starry nights, and the tapestry of farms in a magical little town called Naramata. They speak to the critters and creatures and trees and vines that we share our home and farm with and to the family dinners and orchard picnics that have anchored our life here over 3 generations.Our wines are a reflection of life and nature, joys and heartbreaks.The wines we create here are made to share … to weave together moments and memories far and wide, to inspire conversation and to come together over food. To express the commitment to place and community, and to support a diverse farm landscape that is healthy for the birds, the bees and the people.We are currently seeking a creative and dynamic Ringmaster to lead our Tasting Room and Farm Hospitality Program. The successful candidate will have a skill set and experiences that bridge staff management, marketing and sales.JOB SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering all aspects of Tasting Room operations from the day to day, to longer term. This includes assembling, training and leading a team dedicated to providing genuine customer service, a hallmark of our brand ethos, and creating an experience and systems that grow loyal customer ambassadors. You will lead by example and appreciate that no job is too small for any member of our team. Your vision will guide growth and evolution in our hospitality offerings and your attention to detail will ensure that operations are built on sound metrics.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One to two years experience in management of retail or hospitality operations;
  • 3+ years experience in business development and sales, and proven history of consistently increasing sales;
  • Outstanding team player, motivator and mentor;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to follow through on projects with minimal supervision;
  • Lover of food and wine. WSET and/or CMS certificates, a plus;
  • Relaxed, friendly and professional demeanor in person and on the telephone
  • Able to interact effectively with staff, other departments within the winery as well as agencies/vendors/customers;
  • Strong analytical, math skills and electronic proficiency in a variety of software suites including excel, word, PoS, and shipping and warehouse programs (knowledge of specific software to our eCommerce and Wine Club sales is a benefit but not essential);
  • proficiency in social media platforms including Instagram, FB, and ability to manage google and yelp listings;
  • marketing creativity and ability to execute (in on-brand promotion of both tasting room and dtc/wine club);
  • Serving it Right
  • Valid driver’s license required. Forklift certification a plus.
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds (case of wine) on a regular basis
