Payroll AdministratorRegular, 100%, 12 month work year(up to 2 positions)$43,316 to $55,337($43,749 to $55,890 - salary in effect as of Sept 1, 2021 )Under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the Academic, Administrative & Support and Occasional payrolls, including scheduling and transmitting payroll for all staff in accordance with the respective collective agreements and Board policies and procedures; operates computerized payroll system and ensures integrity of payroll data/records; tracks sick leave and special leaves for Extended Occasional Teachers; audits timesheets, and/or prepares journal vouchers; calculates payroll and salary; trains/orients payroll staff, as required; maintains and updates payroll filing system, records, lists, databases and spreadsheets; liaises with Board personnel on payroll-related matters.Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate will hold minimum 2 year community college diploma in Accounting; and may have one or more of the following: certification in Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager through the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA); or is working towards CPA certification. At least 2 or more years of payroll experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Required skills and knowledge:Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, payroll and accounting practices and procedures.Knowledge of the computerized payroll system and year-to-date fields.Knowledge of computer applications, including Oracle, and SQLProficiency in the use of word processing and spreadsheets applications.Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to clarify, exchange and respond to inquiries from Board Personnel at all levels. Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential information.Ability to work under strict and sometimes inflexible deadlines.Analytical and research skills required.Organization and time management skills to work effectively while juggle multiple tasks to meet stringent timelines.Initiative and judgment required for making decisions, identifying problems and resolving payroll discrepancies.Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and as part of team.ApplicationProcess:Applications will beconsidered in accordance with the ESP Collective Agreement, in the followingorder:1.
