Job Description

Your West Coast Adventure Awaits!Be an integral part of the Nootka Marine Adventures team. You’ll be working among a diverse natural playground of rugged coastal mountains, rainforest and marine life. Newton Cove Resort, an all-inclusive floating luxury resort, is located in Espinosa Inlet near the Pacific entrance to Esperanza Inlet. This in a unique opportunity to work in a remote wilderness, and share in the excitement of creating a first class fishing experience for all.Nootka Marine Adventure’s Newton Cove Resort is proudly operated under True Key Hotels & Resorts, a leader in resort management with properties located throughout BC.This position is available at Newton Cove Resort.Summing it up.As a Fish Processor you’ll be perfecting your filleting, and guest services skills. This includes tracking, sorting, packaging, labelling, and ensuring each guest goes home with professional quality processing of their own sport caught fish.What youll be doing.

  • Receiving/identifying species of Pacific fish and utilizing a Digital data log to accurately record each guests catch.
  • Monitoring guest catch to ensure within DFO regulations, communicating with guides/guests.
  • Fillet, portion, trim and prepare fish for processing.
  • Vacuum pack, label, and freeze.
  • Ensure quality control & chain of custody is maintained.
  • Boxing, strapping and preparing transport paperwork.
  • Maintaining plant cleaning and refrigeration logs.
  • Adhere to Sanitation and Food Safety Plan procedures.
  • Playing a large role in our guest experience, sharing the excitement of their first fishing adventure.
Who you are.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and outgoing individual who is comfortable interacting with guests daily.
  • Familiar with the requirements working in a federally certified fish processing plant.
  • Experience filleting, vacuum packing, and plant cleaning is an asset.
  • You have the physical ability to carry or lift up to 50 lbs and can bend, work in extreme cold, safely handle chemicals, sharp knives and small machinery.
  • Happy to work with a great team.
  • Willing to live and work remotely.
  • All employees must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, or provide a valid exemption.
