Job Description

HPS is a leading provider of geotechnical and structural engineering solutions for infrastructure and energy projects. We specialize in innovative foundation systems, including helical piles and deep foundation designs, supporting power transmission, industrial, and commercial developments. We are growing and looking for a motivated and experienced professional to join our engineering team.Position Overview:We are seeking a Designated Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in helical pile foundation design. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in the use of foundation analysis and structural modeling software including LPile, Group, and STAAD Pro. This position offers the opportunity to take on a key technical role and contribute to high-impact infrastructure projects across Canada.RequirementsKey Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis of helical pile foundations for transmission lines, substations, and industrial structures.
  • Perform lateral and axial pile capacity analysis using LPile and Group.
  • Model and analyze pile-supported structures and grillages in STAAD Pro.
  • Prepare detailed design reports, technical memos, and construction drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
  • Review geotechnical reports and coordinate with geotechnical consultants.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, drafters, and field personnel to support execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in foundation or structural design, including direct experience with helical piles.
  • Proficiency in LPile, Group, and STAAD Pro.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, structural behavior, and load-transfer mechanisms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the power utility or infrastructure sector.
  • Familiarity with CSA and ASTM standards relevant to pile design.
  • Field experience with pile installation or load testing.
