Grounded by our sense of purpose, we offer a meaningful, friendly and dynamic work environment.The Indigenous Digital Accelerator (IDA) aims to enable Indigenous entrepreneurs to build strong, sustainable businesses that have a positive impact on communities, revenue generation and job creation.What you’ll doThe Divisional/Departmental Assistant 2 provides senior administrative and clerical work in support of the Indigenous Digital Accelerator. This work is at times of a confidential and sensitive nature. The DDA2 receives direction from the Manager, Indigenous Digital Accelerator.

  • Prepares operating budgets. Tracks, monitors and reconciles cost centres
  • Facilitates communication including answering enquiries; referring people to other campus services; preparing calendar and brochure information; uploading information to a web page; and drafting reports.
  • Arranges and attends department meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes. Serves on university committees as required.
  • Plans and organizes local special events and makes travel arrangements.
What you’ll bring
  • Completion of two years (approximately 60 credits) of post-secondary business education comparable to the Diploma in Business Administration program offered at Capilano University.
  • Two years of directly related administrative support experience, including experience in an educational setting with significant student contact.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in an evolving environment with multiple Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, discretion and sensitivity when dealing with other employees, students, community groups, multi-cultural groups, general public and specifically Indigenous people.
