Together with our lands, our customs and traditions are the foundations of who we are as Skwxwú7meshABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYThe incumbent will be responsible for consulting on the implementation of the overall strategy and operations of Council Advisory & Support (CAS) under the direction of Co-Chairs and Council. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, we are looking for an Executive Officer to join our growing team! This senior level Executive Officer position acts as the administrative and operational lead for the Chief of Staff, and manages all inflowing and outgoing information from their office. In this role, you will work to provide leadership and guidance support to the development, analysis, communication and implementation of the Squamish Nation’s strategic, operational, and community work, including performance measurement. This is someone who will be interacting with community members on a regular basis and is therefore passionate about contributing to the greater good of our communities. The incumbent will champion values of Wenáxws in providing expertise on system and design thinking, strategic planning and operations.Typical Duties & Responsibilities:Directs information in to and out of the Chief of Staff, Council Advisory & Support office.Key liaison with internal stakeholders to determine successful CAS workflows for initiatives and projects to meet the goals of the Squamish Nation Strategic Plan.Keep the Chief of Staff apprised of relevant issues as they arise and ensure adequate closure in a timely fashion.Establish business processes, project management frameworks and digital enablement to ensure continuity and operations of the CAS office.Execute and meet the objectives and key results (OKR) for CAS.Prepare plans, proposals, and reports for CAS presentation to Council and Senior Management.Delegates, reviews, and is responsible for administrative workflow of the CAS department.Provides guidance in identifying and soliciting funds, including grant proposal writing.Ensures issues are handled according to policy and Squamish Nation guidelines.Acts as back-up to the Chief of Staff as required via established process.Education, Level of Experience & Hiring Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Sciences or a relevant/related field degree from a recognized post-secondaryinstitution.3 - 4 years of directly-related experience in the majority of specialties listed in job description including a consulting on the implementation of the overall strategy and operations, providing expertise on system and design thinking, strategic planning, etc.As career progresses, incumbent will be required to successfully complete job-required, short-term upgrading, training and courses relating to executive support, project management, senior administration, etc., as well as broadening their Squamish Nation culture/language knowledge.Extensive knowledge and understanding of the philosophies, practices, models and frameworks associated with program and policy planning, system and service design development, implementation and evaluation.Experience in project management practices, business process management, lean and/or agile methodologies and change management.Extensive experience in establishing a high level of rapport with all levels of government, internal and external stakeholders.Experience to lead the development of a planning strategy and framework, the analysis of current and proposed initiatives, and the generation of innovative ideas, methods, processes or options to achieve objectives and outcomes.Prior working experience dealing with the unique cultural and traditional elements of First Nations meetings is an asset.Knowledge of the Squamish Nation, Beginner Squamish language (Skwxwú7mesh Snichim) proficiency, First Nation governance and aboriginal law issues in Canada is considered are strongly preferred.Experience as an advanced level user of MS Office, the internet, etc.Working experience with a large-scale computerized database system.
