We are looking for enthusiastic and positive individuals to learn, share and grow with the North Vancouver School District -“the natural place to work”.THE ROLEThe Indigenous Support Worker plays an integral part in providing student assistance and teacher support to the personal, cultural and educational needs of First Nations students. In this role, you will advise and support Indigenous students by supporting behavioural change and personal growth while recognizing the importance of their cultural heritage and traditions. You will act as role model/mentor and perform duties such as supervising individuals or groups of students, assisting students with academic support and appropriate behaviour and personal life skills. In this role, you will be able to provide an Indigenous cultural perspective to all students and staff. This role requires considerable initiative, emotional stability, empathy and understanding of First Nations students and culture. In addition, you will need to exercise sound judgement in dealing with a variety of situations under the general supervision of a teacher(s) or administrator. Your work performance will be reviewed and evaluated based on the effectiveness of the services offered to students and staff.
