The program teaches students the technical and creative aspects of costuming for theatre and film. Our learners study costume history, textiles, wardrobe management, cutting and construction techniques while gaining hands-on experience working on campus theatre productions and student film projects.This posting is for a one-week period during the Spring term. It will require teaching a six-hour class, four times. Candidates require:

  • Master Men’s Hatter
  • Master Couture Millner
  • Working knowledge of Western and Non-Western Costume history
  • Working knowledge between period, couture, and theatrical millinery
  • Depth of knowledge to pass on expertise, information, and skills for millinery in a short period of time.
  • Master at using traditional millinery materials in conventional (including blocking, felting, and wiring) and unconventional costume and construction
  • Working knowledge of Film and Theatre costume production organization and operations, and a solid understanding of the roles involved within a costume department.
  • Working knowledge in a range of other Costume Crafts and Theatrical Cutting and Construction is an asset.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position will require participation in university and departmental activities.Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Diploma; Bachelor or Master’s of Arts degree preferred.
  • 15 years of Industry experience. Proven ability to teach adult learners and to create a learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
