Title Operations Maintenance WorkerJob Status AuxiliaryPosition OverviewThe City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Liveable City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.The Shipyards and Waterfront is looking for an Operations Maintenance Worker to join their team to work on an auxiliary basis.ResponsibilitiesIn this position you will perform maintenance and custodial work for the buildings, facilities, equipment, marine structures, plazas and public spaces at the Shipyards and Waterfront and ensure all areas are safe and presentable for public use and enjoyment. You will inspect the inside and outside of buildings and yard for safety and maintenance problems and perform required maintenance and repair tasks. You will also perform janitorial tasks, including cleaning washrooms, keeping grounds clear of litter; and collecting litter and recyclable bins. In addition, you will assist others in event programming needs, move and position street furniture, waste receptacles, signage and barriers and respond to maintenance service calls.RequirementsYou will have related work experience, along with knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in basic maintenance and repair work, and the ability to operate a variety of equipment including fork lifts, street sweepers, utility vehicles and various hand and power tools. You will have working knowledge of practices and rules of safe and efficient operations of assigned equipment and the ability to maintain records related to the work. A demonstrated ability to perform physical manual work in all types of weather is required. You will have the ability to work independently and understand and follow verbal and written instructions as well as be able to deal courteously with the public and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.Compensation$31.15 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits(January 2021 rates)Hours of WorkAuxiliary.
