We are looking for a librarian who is passionate about and has academic, library, or professional experience in one or more of the following program areas: Motion Picture Arts (filmmaking and film studies), Visual Communication (Design and Illustration), Performing Arts, or Costuming for Stage and Screen. Ideally, this person is a great teacher who can connect with students, provide excellent research help, and operate successfully in multiple modes of lesson delivery (in-person and online). At Capilano University, we are committed to creating engaging, high-impact classroom experiences which include lesson planning, outcomes-based design, active learning techniques, and assessment. The position will include teaching in the liaison areas and in other program areas as assigned.This Librarian will also be a part of our Research Help Desk team, providing both online and in-person reference services to CapU students across the disciplines and AskAway chat to students across the province. Our Research Help Desk model prioritizes student learning during each interaction. Our values and standards for service interactions are online here.The Librarian will be asked to take on other work as needed and corresponding with their professional background and experience, including assessment and/or communications projects.The successful candidate will be part of a team of eight faculty librarians that operates within a collegial management model. We are engaging actively in Truth and Reconciliation and equity, diversity and inclusion work and consider these critical priorities in our work with students, faculty, community, and prospective colleagues. We are committed to developing pedagogically sound programs and resources and using data and critical feedback to improve our practices. This Librarian will need to collaborate closely in an online environment with the team, including librarian colleagues, the University Librarian, Library staff, and partners across campus.
