Job Description

Nchkaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation - Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nchkaỷs mandate is to develop, manage and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation. Our mission is to generate wealth and create prosperity from economic opportunities for current and future generations of the Squamish Nation. This role is offered to members first and the broader community if an appropriate application is unavailable. This position will mainly work out of Nch’kaỷ’s Head Office.Position StatusThis is a Permanent Full-time position.Scope of the PositionReal Estate Development Coordinator works in conjunction with the development managers and executives on multiple projects at various stages of real estate development. Assisting the team in researching, reporting, and analyzing potential development opportunities. The coordinator will request information, assist with permits, and monitor the application progress as required for ongoing development projects. In addition, consult with project stakeholders to assist the organization and participation in public information meetings and research development issues, and prepares summaries.Duties, Responsibilities, Authority and Accountabilities

  • Working alongside a Development Manager, providing support on various projects and assignments that may include coordinating permits, drawing reviews, responding to consultants, and preparing memos, presentations, and analyses.
  • Collect relevant site information including survey, geotechnical, and environmental.
  • Provide support in the preparation of project performances and spreadsheets.
  • Ensure the Development Managers are aware of any dates for subject removals or deposit payments.
  • Assist with the preparation of permit applications; development permit, rezoning, and building permit.
  • Collect and provide any information required through the approval process.
  • Attend council meetings.
  • Coordinate and organize any public meetings required
  • Attend all public meetings.
  • Assist with the coordination between a development permit and a building permit.
  • Assist with the preparation of the building permit application.
  • Assist with consultants as required.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and record minutes to distribute to the project team as well as ensure that the information is organized in the project files for the Team.
  • Maintain current knowledge about bylaw changes, development and building regulations, and other government regulations that impact project feasibility.

Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor
  • Reports to Vice President Real Estate & Development.
Position Requirements
  • 2 - 4 years of project coordination experience within a development or construction company environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma, or equivalent experience, in Commerce, marketing, sales, property development, urban planning, or related field.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the Real Estate market in Metro Vancouver.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent team player with solid communication skills.
  • High levels of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact with colleagues and senior management to maintain quality.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Experience working with First Nations is an asset.
