Who We AreSquamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson’s Landing, and Squamish River watershed. The Squamish Nation has occupied and governed the territory since beyond recorded history. The Squamish Nations culture is rich and resilient. Together with our lands, our customs and traditions are the foundations of who we are as Skwxwú7mesh.As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 12 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Community Members have access to necessary programs and services.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYWorking as an integral part of the Ta na wa Yúus ta Stitúyntsam̓ Rights and Title Department, this position reports directly to the Referral Manager, this analyst position that will provide research and analytical support to the group with respect to proposals for projects/activities by the government/industry within Squamish Nation Territory. The analyst will review referrals for project/activity proposals in Squamish territory, and conduct basic analysis, identifying potential adverse impacts to Squamish’s rights and title interests, identifying opportunities for benefits to the Nation, and otherwise working with a team of analysts and specialists to develop responses. This position is responsible for assisting with strategy development, drafting letters, attending meetings with government/industry on the Nation’s behalf, and preparing briefs for senior staff. The successful candidate is resourceful, highly organized and a self-motivated professional with demonstrated excellent time management skills, an able team player, has outstanding attention to detail, has the ability to juggle multiple projects/responsibilities and set priorities/meet deadlines. Operates at a high level of interaction with employees/management, requiring confidentiality, and responding with courtesy, tact and diplomacy.What You Bring
