Job Description

SYSTEMS AND NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR IIThis is a unionized position. We are looking for enthusiastic and positive individuals to learn, share and grow with us in “the natural place to work”.THE ROLEThis is skilled technical work involving the configuration, installation and maintenance of the computers, networks and servers of the School District. Included are the installation, implementation, repair and maintenance of a variety of Information Technology (IT) hardware and software related to a networked desktop and server environment for the School District. An employee of this class exercises considerable independent judgement and action in completing assignments, and works closely with School District staff on assigned projects. Oral and written assignments are received from a supervisor. Work performance is checked and reviewed in terms of conformance with required standards and effective services rendered.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Considerable
knowledge of the principles, design, installation, and operation of Local AreaNetworks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) and of Operating Systems.
  • Considerable
knowledge of the principles and operation of a wide variety of computers,devices and related electronic equipment including Information Technology (IT)hardware and software related to a network and server environment.
  • Considerable
knowledge of the methods and techniques of checking, testing, adjusting,repairing, maintaining, altering and installing computers and relatedelectronic equipment including Information Technology (IT) hardware andsoftware related to a network and server environment.
  • Working
knowledge of departmental functions, policies, practices and procedures, andproject planning.
  • Ability
to use a variety of hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability
to create accurate records and documentation of work and procedures.
  • Ability
to perform a variety of skilled tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability
to remain current with improvements and changes in technology.
  • Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with School Districtstaff and others as required.
  • Ability
to supervise and train one or more helpers as required.DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCECompletion of the 12th grade or equivalent, plus completion of a recognized two-year diploma program in computer systems technology. Minimum two years related experience as a computer system technician, plus two years’ experience as a computer network technician, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Required Licenses,Certificates and Registrations
  • Computer Systems Technology Diploma.
  • Valid
Drivers License for the Province of British Columbia.The current rate of pay is $33.14 per hour (current rate), 40 hours per week/12 months.
