This is skilled horticultural and nursery work at the trade-certified level that includes the cultivation, propagation, planting and maintenance of a variety of plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and related parks and recreational areas.The successful applicant will possess:

  • A thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, material, tools and equipment used in horticulture, and nursery operations
  • Considerable knowledge of plants, shrubs, flowers, trees and of related stock and material
  • The ability to perform a variety of skilled horticultural and nursery tasks under minimal supervision
  • The ability to assign, check and supervise the work of assistants engaged in skilled gardening, nursery and related tasks
  • The ability to prepare and maintain work plans and related work records, and
  • Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment and material used in the work.
Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12, along with completion of a Canadian Red Seal Landscape Horticulturalist program, and sound related experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
