Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:This position will be responsible the management of the company’s supply chain and inventory needs. This job is for a reliable, hard-working individual that has a high level of attention to detail with the ability to work independently and efficiently while being focused on safety, systems and continuous improvement aspects.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working in a safe manner and following all safety rules.
  • Support the management team in improving the formalization of our purchasing and inventory management systems and subsequently our strategy
  • Evaluate purchasing policies; recommend, develop and implement new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies
  • Purchase supply of products / materials
  • Determine the best value for products / materials
  • Track and manage inventory, inventory needs and risks based on production plan and supplier lead-times.
  • Oversee the receipt of orders by receiving and relevant documentation
  • Manage supply base with constant communication with suppliers
  • Analyze market and delivery systems
  • Source and interview vendors; negotiate contracts and costs
  • Analyze supply base; negotiate on behalf of the organization and maintain good relationships with vendors
  • Prepare requisitions and manage purchase orders with accounting team
  • Monitor order expenses
  • Communicate performances and costs to management
  • Organize and schedule procurements in a timely manner
  • Comply to scorecard measurement system to track values
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, customers, team members, and managers to align goals
  • Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
  • Set and enforce a budget for the purchasing department
  • Hire and train purchasing department staff
  • Performs additional duties as deemed necessary.
  • Takes initiative and is a self starter.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time, work independently with minimal supervision, and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
  • Maintains open communication and a team-oriented work environment with all departments and all levels of personnel
  • Demonstrates flexibility and professionalism throughout the day.
  • Willingness to work in other areas of the company as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in procurement, business, finance, or related field an asset
  • 2-5 years of previous experience in procurement and inventory management
  • Experience in industry procedures, costs, and terms
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills with proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experienced at compiling and following budgets
  • Goal Oriented
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • In-depth understanding of the market
